I worked in different industries before discovering a profession where I help people navigate challenging yet exciting situations. The empathy it has inspired in me, along with the opportunity to simplify challenges, has been deeply rewarding.
I’ve always had a certain hunger to leave my comfort zone, explore new territory, and do meaningful work. It took me many years to find a career that could satisfy that hunger. The journey began with my desire to leave my hometown in South Carolina at a young age to attend college, and by the time I was 17, I knew I wanted to sell real estate. However, my parents encouraged me to go to school first. I studied mathematics but ultimately obtained my major to business.
After college, I moved to Atlanta to start my first job at a law firm, working in accounts receivable. It was my first encounter with difficult work situations making the overall experience both challenging and educational. Later, I transitioned to a tech-related role offering computer support, which inspired me to pursue a master’s degree in information technology. That’s when I met my ex-husband. He was getting his master’s too, and together we started a new chapter: building a family.
Shortly thereafter, I welcomed my daughters, Claire and Lauren. Three months after having my Lauren was born, I was ready to get out of the house. The real estate hunger I had experienced in adolescence had not gone away. “If I’m ever going to do real estate, now is the time,” I thought.
The transition into real estate, which happened in 2005, was awesome! I was finally able to pursue the career that had sparked my curiosity so many years ago—and I went all in. One of my first sales still sticks with me. The house was being sold by the owner, and when I knocked on her door, she opened it with an expression of desperation. “I need help,” she said. “I’m in the middle of a divorce. I have no money and I need to sell this house.” It was a tough transaction—I had to jump through many hoops with this short sale—but somehow, I got her an offer. After many months, we closed the deal. The story spread across my brokerage and one of the agents told me, “Robyn, if you were able to sell that house, you can do anything.”
I discovered how much I enjoyed helping clients navigate this complex process, especially when they’re going through a hard time. Indeed, several of my clients have lost their homes due to bankruptcy, and I’m grateful I was there to assist them. I learned the importance of being a problem solver while being empathetic to their situations. Each new client brought unique challenges, and I thrived on finding solutions.
There was another turning point that jolted my appetite for life: a divorce. Although it was stressful to say goodbye to such a long-term relationship, the change sparked a new perspective and joy for life. Inspired, I embarked on a health journey that included significant weight loss. I also got into weightlifting, an invigorating exercise that has brought me more energy and well-being.
Nowadays, I enjoy to pursuing my goals. I enjoy traveling, often seeking out the beach. I’m proud of the direction my life has taken, as well as my accomplishments in business and health. I continue to play tennis and pickleball, hike, and lift weights in my free time. Now that I’m in my 50s, I feel like life is just getting started.
It’s my honor to help people through big life changes, such as buying or selling a home. These aren’t just business transactions—they’re emotional journeys. There are human lives involved, and I take pride in walking alongside my clients, holding space for the challenges they face.
I’m a strong problem solver and a methodical thinker; I thrive on tackling challenges that might intimidate others. My honesty is key—I openly share both the positives and negatives about a house to ensure my clients can make informed decisions. Understanding my clients’ needs is my top priority. To do so, I ask thoughtful questions, which help them clarify what they’re looking for. My communication style brings clarity to both of us, ensures we stay on the same page, and allows me to pinpoint misunderstandings.
I’m committed to sticking with my clients for the long haul, guiding them every step of the way. While I provide honest advice, I always respect their final decisions. It’s all about building trust and ensuring their journey is as smooth as possible.
Sincerely,
Robyn Binger
